'Tis the season to support independent businesses and shop small 🎄
And that’s why we’ve pulled together our favourite small businesses for you to browse and shop for yourself, for presents and forever!
Giddy Friday is an independent jewellery brand based in Cardiff, Wales. This one-woman led business specialises in tarnish-free, sterling silver jewellery that is as adorable as it is affordable.
The Indy Box
The Indy Box is a monthly box subscription delivering unique, independent beauty brands straight to your door.
“I created The Indy Box to become a platform to help indie beauty businesses to have someone to celebrate the amazing work they do.
Our boxes are filled with products from some of the best indie brands, that are filled with so much love and passion, from us and the people who curate these special products.
Subscription boxes are such an amazing way to discover new brands and products, and it’s so important in this current climate to support independent businesses, so we’re here to help you through your beauty routine.
I set up The Indy Box as I’ve always had such a passion for beauty and cosmetics and during lockdown, I was feeling a little lost and now I feel like I’ve got so much purpose.
I’m doing something I am so passionate about, that it doesn’t even feel like work. I’ve met some of the most amazing, like minded people and this is only the beginning. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for myself and The Indy Box on our journey.”
– Becky of The Indy Box
Rebeeca Strickson is a visionary illustrator and textile artist, combing eye-catching colours with equally eye-catching topics.
Perl Cosmetics is an independent beauty brand whose aim is to give you the confidence to glow in your own skin with their customisable clay facemask and illuminating oil.
“PERLcosmetics began during lockdown after I lost my job due to the pandemic. I decided to use the time to combine my love for skincare and passion for science and create a skincare brand!
We currently have one hero product, our pearl powder clay mask but I have big plans for the future! I’m so excited to see where I can take the brand.”
– Isobel of Perl Cosmetics
Bea’s Flowers London
Bea’s Flowers London is a mother daughter duo based in London, brightening up homes and offices across the UK with their bespoke bouquets of quality flowers and foliage.
“We are a mother daughter duo based in London who started the company in 2017 as purely a flower arrangement company for offices and restaurants.
Bea is a professional interior designer and has always been inspired by flowers in all of her work. Rita, growing up in her mother’s influence was used to helping out with flower arrangements around the house and gardening.
In the first lockdown flowers brought the duo such peace and joy that they decided to spread this happiness with everyone else.
Now they create bespoke bouquets, flower subscriptions and so on to ship nationally. The part they love best is making people’s days, weeks and months especially in these times.”
– Rita of Bea’s Flowers London
Nackt Candles is a small business based in Scotland, creating environmentally friendly, vegan nude body candles. They create their own unique and inclusive nude moulds and even have a Christmas special (it’s not a nudey Santa, I’m afraid).
