The name 'Gua Sha" comes from the Chinese word for 'scraping' - gua sha is the practice of using a tool, such as our opalite and rose quartz massage stones, to apply positive pressure and scrape across the skin to relieve pain and tension. This process can cause petechiae and micro-trauma, and creates a response in the body which may help to break down scar tissue.
What is Gua Sha Good For?
Reducing facial tension
Healing dark circles
Promoting blood circulation
Relaxing muscles and promoting tissue drainage
How to Use
After Cleansing, apply a facial serum and / or oil.
Using light pressure apply the concave portion of the tool on the skin at a flat angle.
Slowly scrape the tool in an upward motion across the jawline from the centre of the chin towards the ears.
Repeat each motion five times for best results
The results can cause some redness and bruising.
We would not advocate using a Gua Sha if any of the following apply to you:
You take blood thinning medications
You have a bleeding disorders or bleed easily
You have any medical conditions affecting skin or veins
Due to the nature of semi-natural products each stone may differ slightly in colouration and shape.
